FROM MANCHESTER TO CHINA ,

In July, 2007, Alice Maines , who was four years old, went to a summer fair at her school in Manchester. 

There was a balloon race at the school and Alice's dad wrote a question and her address onn the label of a balloon.

 Alice let go of the balloon.

 After six weeks, they received a letter from a 13-year-old boy in China! His name was Nathan,.

 He found the label on the 25th of August, when he as playing basketball with his friends.

 This balloon travelled about 9,500 kilometres -much further than any of the other ballons.

 There was a prize for the person who found the balloon. 

The prize was a ticket to visit a zoo near Mancherster. 

The boy couldn't travel to England, so the school sent him a box full of letters and pictures.

No one knows how the balloon travelled to China.

 Some people think that the balloon got stuck to part of a plane !
